The 'No Gen AI Seal'
What is it?
With the rise of Generative AI (also known as Gen AI) and the damage it is doing to the creative industries we, alongside some of our indie developer friends, decided to use the following ‘No Gen AI’ seal.
What is Generative AI and why it can it be problematic?
Generative AI is a technology that can create pictures, movies, audio (music or voice action) and writing using artificial intelligence. The issue is that these generative technologies are trained on existing works by human artists who have not given their permission, or been compensated, for their work being utilised.
Essentially their work has been stolen.
Who created the seal?
Our friends over at Polygon Treehouse and other indie developers on Discord created a consistent asset that could be shared around the development community. It was a team effort, and Salix is happy to add ourselves to their list.
What is the seal for?
The idea is that developers can display it on their game’s store pages (and elsewhere) to communicate to potential players that no generative AI was used in its creation, so they can buy their game with confidence that their purchase will support developers whose ethics they agree with on this issue.
How can I get the seal asset?
The seal image is totally free to use. Feel free to right-click > Save image as… to download the PNG image file.
